Wu Yee Children’s Services delivers comprehensive Child Development, Family, and Provider services for young children (0-5 years old) and low-income families throughout the City of San Francisco. The scope of our programs ranges from child/parent education, wellness, mental health, nutrition and social services including Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

The Family Advocate promotes family wellness and parent engagement in early child development. The Family Advocate will support families through Early Head Start/Head Start programs eligibility, enrollment, and application process & will act as the primary liaison between family and center staff.

This position requires fluent  English & Spanish  

Location:

  • 1601 Lane  Street San Francisco CA 94124 ( Part-time position 20 hrs not qualified for Benefits)
  • 1820 Alemany Blvd San Francisco CA 94112 ( Req # 1567 - Full time + Benefits)

Responsibilities:

  • Manages a caseload of 24-46 families throughout a program year.
  • Collaborates with the Center Manager in identifying and recruiting eligible families, schedules site tours and orientation meetings.
  • Conducts initial Early Head Start/Head Start eligibility screening.
  • Assists with the application and enrollment of families ensuring all required documentation.
  • Maintains Child Plus data base and children’s files.
  • Assists families in developing Family Partnership Agreements.
  • Establishes and fosters working relationships with service providers and community agencies.
  • Communicates children’s developmental strengths, progress or needs to families.
  • Monitors daily activities, identifying challenges and needs for special family support and services.
  • Coordinates home visits, parent-teacher conferences, case conferences, community resource referrals, and multi-disciplinary meetings.
  • Empowers families to develop and foster healthy self-concepts as their child’s primary role model and first teacher.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field.
  • Bilingual in English/Cantonese OR Spanish required.
  • 1+ years of experience working with children and family services. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of early childhood education and intervention.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of databases.
  • Healthcare/vulnerable client employer, verified COVID vaccination required.

Compensation and Benefits: (Only apply's for full time positions) *

  • $33.60 - $36.29/hour
